New pc.
kindly advise on a pc in the range of 40k max 45k...i would have preferred Intel much more but have been going through all the posts and all you guys have been recomending AMD..so i am willing to try it but am bit weary abt the stability of it ...as i don't need to overclock just need a stable system for little gaming and movies...and request you to suggest a dealer in delhi whom we can rely on as dealer near my home is virtually selling a config for dbl the price i found on deltapage...

Re: New pc.
I have a small query as you have advised to the graphic card Sapphire HD4770, if I go for 4850 series would i have to make any changes on the motherboard.. and I have seen that Sapphire HD4770 is ddr5 and the cards that i have seen in 4850 are mostly ddr3. what difference does it make?

Re: New pc.
No you don't have to make any change with suggested MOBO. Yes very true but still 4850 will give you 10% to 15% performance gain over 4770 here are the differences
A typical 4850 GPU
Memory type: GDDR3
Memory Interface:256-bit
Stream Processors:800
Core Clock:625 MHz
Memory Clock:1986 MHz
Memory Bandwidth:147.0GB/sec (final outcome)
A typical 4770 GPU
Memory Type: GDDR5
Memory Interface:128-bit
Stream Processors:640
Core Clock:750 MHz
Memory Clock:3.20 GHz
Memory Bandwidth: 51.2GB/sec (final outcome)

Re: New pc.
thnx for ur suggestions guys...but unfortunately haven't been able to purchase the system due to my job...well most probably i will be going with Desiibond's suggestion with 4850 insted of 4770...but have some queries if you may help with them:
1) If i go with a 790GX based motherboard..thinkin abt Gigabyte GA-MA790GP-UD4H any other suggestions apart from that.
2) And if i increase my budget a little so i can get a DDR3 compatible system so atleast i have a future proof system..
3) wht difference is there between a normal RAM and the one suggested for Corsair...
4) i had read somewhere that AMD may slash the rate of their 4XXX series in a week or so...so should i wait for that?

Re: New pc.
Welcome shikhar_kapoor143
I too use the same Mobo Gigabyte GA-MA790GP-UD4H . this mobo well works with pHenom 2 940
DDR3 its ok , but the mobo prices will be higher & u wont see much difference unless going in to corei7
Actually HD 4770 is good but availability is less & also gaming is little bit low resolution
u can choose either GTX260 or GTX 275 , both can take in to more gaming experience

Re: New pc.
first and second of your quires are well answered by damngoodman999 for third and and forth here we go :-
(3)It gives you very low latency time of 4-4-4-12, somewhat overclockable, quality components used.
(4) yes very true and if you can wait to workout in Indian market (should take 15 days at most) then it worth waiting for better prices offered.

Re: New pc.
@damngoodman, the difference between a ddr3 mobo and ddr2 mobo is 2k and difference in ram's price is 300 bucks. I see no reason not to go for ddr3 as an am3+ddr3 setup is much better for upgrade.

Re: New pc.
@damngoodman, it's not just about difference, AMD is moving to AM3 and if one is ready to put 8k for a DDR2 board, I think it's wise to put another 1k and get AM3 board.
btw, X4 920 and 940 won't work on AM3 boards as these two are am2+ processors. YOu need to get 720 or 810 or 550 or 955 for am3 board.
Gigabyte am3 board is not available in 10k I think. one good board is MSI 790GX-G65, which is available for some 9.2k

But I don't think a PC including these items along with rest of the stuff equally capable can be built under his max budget of 45K. Or has he increased his budget?

Re: New pc.
desiibond very impressive configuration but I think he can get even AMD Phenom II X4 955 AM3 @13K just over his total budget of 45K and should not he go for GlacialPower GP-AL650AA @4.8K(due to unavailability of Antec EA 650w)just 0.6K away from VX 450w spatially when considering his upcoming graphic card.
And at next possible upgrade he must add one more module of 2GB DDR3 1333MHz to avail maximum benefits of DDR3 RAM as it works best in triple channel mode.

Re: New pc.
^^ah yes. Glacialpower 650AA will be better for that price.
BTW, AMD's DDR3 memory controller is dual channel and not triple channel and hence we need not worry to have 3 mem sticks instead of two

Re: New pc.
thnx all for your inputs specially desiibond...have finalised this config..pretty much the same that was suggested.. would be deciding on whether to get 500GB or 1Tb of HDD then and there...don't require a keyboard and mouse have it already...speakers most probably would be Creative any2.1 within 2k ie.have to get a UPS though
Processor- MD Phenom II X3 720 HDZ720WFGIBOX Black Edition Processor
MotherBoard- MSI 790GX-G65
RAM- Transcend 2x2GB DDR3 1333MHz
HDD- Barracuda 7200.12 SATA 3Gb/s 1TB Hard Drive ST31000528AS Barracuda 7200.12 SATA 3Gb/s 500GB Hard Drive ST3500418AS
Graphic card- would be getting Palit 4850 512 MB DDR5 next month...or if you can suggest any better card in the budget of 10k
Monitor- Samsung 2233SW
DVD Burner- Sony
Cabinet- CoolerMaster Elite 330 Cabinet
PSU-GlacialPower GP-AL650AA
