Firstly, a DVD RAM drive is said to be a drive which can read/write
DVD-RAM discs along with DVD+-R and DVD+-RW, CD-R, CD-RW, CD-ROM, DVD-ROM, etc etc.
So there is NOTHING wrong with being detected as a DVD-RAM drive.
As for inability to write on windows xp, are you using an admin account or a limited user account ?
