I want to upgrade from my old AMD 4400+ X2 system to a new one. I've made the following configuration 1 AMD Phenom 720 BE - 8100 2 Jetway HA 07 Ultra - 6000 3 4 GB DDR2 800 MHz RAM - 2500 4 Palit GTX 260 - 11300 Total - 28k I will be selling my Old processor, mobo and 2 GB RAM and hope that it would fetch me around 3-4k. I already have a Cooler Master 400W PSU.. but i think that i need to upgrade to a new one.. Already have WD 250 GB SATA II and Sony DRU 835 A. So, suggestions are welcome.. please review it

gr8 choices
consider gigabyte 790G/FX mobos too. and yup, better PSU is needed. VX 450 will do proper justice.

how about GA-MA790GP-DS4H for motherboard. It's a bit costly but look at the features:

Actually i want to go for AMD 790 G chipset based board... don't need crossfire as GTX 260 is enough for a 19" Viewsonic VA 1912 WB LCD.. I would be very pleased if you guys could recommend me a single GFX slot based mobo under 6000 and on the same chipset..

better heat sinks silent heat pipe Inside 6k, you can go for the same board that I bought (5.1k) but it doesn't have MA78GM-US2H

The D series brings all solid capacitors to the board, improving overclockability. I would recomend the MA78GM-S2HP/DS2HP.
I can tell you first hand that Gigabyte's aftersales is really good. Most boards under 6K are MicroATX today. You could look for the biostar 790 board. It also retails for 6K but is really hard to find.

The Jetway HA 07 ultra also has solid state capacitors.. don't care about temperature as the room temperature hardly goes above 30 degrees here

ATX I believe.
* TA790GX 128M If you are buying a biostar, make sure your dealer knows where the service center is, or he can arrange for warranty for your. Their India presence seems to be poor.

http://www.jetway.com.tw/jw/motherbo...ame=HA07-Ultra
I was looking at this board's features and damn, it looks great 1) Heat Pipe 2) 790GX Chipset and AMD™ SB750 Chipset 3) AMD OverDrive(AOD) 4) CrossFireX 5) 128MB side port memory Also by looking at the cooling applied on the mobo and solid capacitors, this mobo certainly looks good.

Yeah.. this motherboard is damn hot in the features department.. the only regret is that crossfire runs in 8x per slot.. but anyways.. i won't be implementing crossfire anytime soon.. The board is a hot looker.. and its performance is also great..
Check this out

solid caps ensures longer life, and that board looks solid.

My suggestion is also for Biostar TA790GX+128M board. I'm currently using that one and the board is really good. Its a good overclocking board too. I overclocked my Phenom II 940 to up to 3.7 GHz without any problem. Price wise it is the best value for money board. Price is around 5.2kto 5.4k. But if u r lucky u can get it at 5k

Biostar TA790GXB A2+ is almost same w/o the sideport memory n one PCIE 16x, is about 4.2k. Got solid caps near CPU socket.

the availability of TA790GXB A2+ is very low in India....except in some online sites like Lynx.

But does the biostat one supports enabling the fourth core in the 720BE CPU? I'm also going to buy the Asus silent knight CPU cooler. So jetway is recommended for such a job will biostar support it ?

actually its the feature of MCP 790GX/FX. all mobos of with this chipset shud support, but some earlier released ones might need some bios updates in worst cases.
enabling frequency calibration enables the core.

Actually any 790G chipset based board with Advance Clock Calibration function enabled, supports enabling of the 4th core of the Phenom II X3 processors. But it also depends upon ur processors. Some batch of the Phenom II X3s are having a not fully damaged 4th core. Only they can be enabled. They may have some faulty register or some portions of the Cache disabled, but still in a workable condition. If the 4th core is highly damaged, then it may not be possible to enable it.
