Core i7+9600GT doesn't make any any any sense.

Get HD4770 for 6.5k-7.2k
for GPU, go for Corsair VX450 atleast.
for mobo, stay away from Intel's.

Gpu gtx 260 1 gb ddr3 @ 11k
Psu Corsair vx 450 @ 3.9k

Moniter go 4 samsung 2233 @ 10.2k

wats ur use? If gaming then its of no good for the price u are going to pay.
for gaming an X3 720 with a GTX 260 makes 10X sense.
Or a P2 940 with a good 790GX/FX mobo with a GTX 260. Still it ll be much cheaper than an i7 with X58 and 9600GT.
and do get a good PSU like VX 450. CM EP 500 is crap.

core i7 are gr8, but for some 80k+ configs with a 4890/GTX 275 285 etc.

why not, though spending 1K more will always be suggested but really whynot. I am not into much of gaming watch movie so I will just need a good gfx card which can smoothly run HD content.

But assuming by his gfx card he is not into heavy applications of video editing or anything.

If you are not into very very heavy apps and all.
Go for normal C2D or Phenom based config save money buy a big screen 24 inch one and enjoy whatever you want.:-P

so in the end I will ask what is your budget and need. Though bang for each and every buck spent still core i7 is too much on heavy and expensive and high on power consumption too.

if he is not into gaming, video and audio edition, what is the need for i7??

getting a HTPC with 5.1 surround setup with a 24" display makes more sense.
