Default System Upgrade

Hi All

I am planning to upgrade my Old PC currently it's a Intel 1.7 Ghz , with 2 x 256 MB DDR , a 80GB and 40 GB HDD's running on a U8668 Motherboard

I plan to go for RAM and Motherboard change, considering a budget of 7K please advise of possibilities in this case, a good onboard AGP and sound will be a bonus.

I am not looking to install and use anything particular on my PC just for home purpose

Thanks in advance

CV

cant you increase your budget lil more and go for complete mobo + proccy + RAM,
investing 7K for upgrade will be a waste.

Athlon 64 X2 7750+ 3.5K
780G mobo in around 4-5K, has very good onboard gfx, so it will become better for you than inveting in a new AGP card.

DDR2 RAM are very cheap
1GB 800 FSB stick are available in 800 bucks and 2GB in 1200

onboard audio will be 7.1 channel which will be pretty decent and better than many cheap audio solution you may be thinking.

Yes as said by acewin Updgrading Only Mobo & RAM without Processor will be total waste
Instead go for all 3
Get a
Intel Dual Core (E5200) 2.5ghz for Rs. 3400/3500
Gigabyte G31M S2L for Rs. 2400 (link) or
Transcend 2GB RAM for Rs. 1100/1200
(Please dont by dynet Ram it comes for 900rs. but has worst performance/speed)

other Motherboard Option (as per your budget)
ASRock N73V-S for Rs. 2700 (link) or
Gigabyte G31-S3L around Rs. 3500 (link)

you can go for Gigabyte G31M S2L it support Intel Dual Core & Core 2 Duo for Future upgrade and also supports Intel Celeron Processor (LGA 775)

so u can get Mobo + 2GB DDR II RAM for 2400+1200 = Rs. 3600/-

List of Supported Proc -
http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/M...2693#anchor_os

carefully check for your Processor Support

1GB stick costs around 1100 last time I had checked in SP road.
See this pricelist @THEITWARES

Lil problem over there mate for mobo.
Your proccy for sure would be 478 pin type proccy, and any new mobo based on LGA775 wont be good.

There are mobo from MSI/Asus which are intel 945 chipset will cost you 2-2.5K and supports upto 4GB RAM. but then you cant go for upgrade or proccy on them.
But this does supports DDR2 RAM so wont be bad,
