Aww man, for a budget of 45k This is the best config u can have(I can call this high end config). If u can increase ur budget to 80k may be u can choose the best Core i7 based rig and watch the price halve in 6 months.

Still intel platform if u insist:

E8400 / Q9550 9kmax /15k
P45 motherboard 6k+~9k
GPU GTX 260 12k
PSU Antec EA 650 SLI 4.5k
Cabinet CM 690 4k
Ram 2.5k

Dont go for Q6600, 720BE outstrips it and is priced lesser.

@agx007, don't understand why are you are ready to pay more for lower performance. Anyways, go for config given by Gowtham for Intel rig but I bet Phenom II X4 will effortlessly beat core2duo and Q6600. And Q9550 is 5k costlier and with Phenom II X4, you can put that 5k in GPU and get a much much better GPU like GTX275.

Unless you go for core i7, there is no reason in sticking to Intel-only thoughts!!!

True Q6600 is almost extinct.Go for Q8200 instead or wait for i7 prices to come down.If you can wait i suggest you wait and go for a i7 rig,it is far better than core2duo's and i7 is better still coz memory controller is built in like AMD.No southbridge bottlenecks.Good for gaming and processor heavy work.
Currently
i7-920 / 2.66 GHz retails for 15850
Intel DX58SO X58 retails for 15350
Stricly out of budget.
Don't go for X4 you'll regret later, these are not bad but C2Q are better. If you are on budget X3 & X4 are good buy though.
You can buy i7-920 instead of Q9550.

BTW, AMD Phenom X4 940 Black Edition price gone down to 10.7K now. 920 is a waste then. Get 940 for Rs. 500 more.

Well, I was able to play Crysis at 1280x1024 resolution on high settings with a Geforce 9600 GT on my q6600 with decent frame rates (30-45 fps). That's the max res my monitor can pump out. A GTX 260 will totally rock with Crysis or even the ATI HD 4870.
