Re: Grafix card needed under 6K.
Palit 9600GT 512MB DDR3 @5.4k (well under your budget)
Palit 4670GT 512MB DDR3 @5k (well under your budget)
Zotak 9800GT 512MB DDR3 @7K (Best VFM just a 1K stretch from your budget away)

Re: Grafix card needed under 6K.
Yes you can enable hybrid crossfire in that combination but I don't now how many game titles or other applications released up till now can take advantage of this feature.

Re: Grafix card needed under 6K.
^^ Depends. If it blows, it blows. If that's the risk you are willing to take, that is your risk. There is a psu guide alongwith psu recommendations thread on this forum. Search it and see which power supplies suits your needs.

Re: Grafix card needed under 6K.
^^ I am not questioning stability. If something goes wrong then your ram, hard drive, motherboard or/and graphic card can be short circuited which will void the warranty.

At least buy a Corsair CX 400 @3.2K.
Or even better Corsair VX 450 @4K.

You cant trust psu ratings that easily. Either they are calculated on load or by idle- at times even over exaggerated. Different company have different "philosophy" to label their power supply. So its always best if one buys the tried and tested things.

Re: Grafix card needed under 6K.
4670 is much more power efficient. most local 450~500w PSu can handle it...but still its better to go for atleast a powersafe 500 for 1.4k or a similar one.

Re: Grafix card needed under 6K.
^^ Ermm.....pretty wrong way to judge it that way. The way I see it- power supply isnt a fashion show so even people who put stuff like LED lights and all. But people do- that's why stuff like tagan which has LED fans on it and those LED rings on their modular design are selling in the first place. Zebby also has those fancy ones. The specs are truly misleading. Iball and zebbys dont have fixed OEM contracts. When a contract is over, they chuck that model out and start a new model with a new OEM. In zebby/iball/ power safe/ VIP's case, they have the same labelling but over the time time OEMs changed.
Now iBall and many zebbys (note: not all of them, they bagged HEC as their OEM for their new versions of pro) buy power supplies from china and rebadge them on their own. No hassle. These are are POS. Ask a question to yourself- graphic card worth 6k, processor worth 5k, mobo with another 5k, rams worth 2-4k, hard drives worth 2-3k, screens worth 7-10k rest- whatever. If you total it up, is it really hard to buy and afford a good power supply like (in this case) which will protect and give clean and efficient power supply which will give you piece of mind? High efficiency reduces heat and waste of power, you are getting god warranty period, the components good does the job well, how hard can it be to buy a unit for 3.5k? Once you buy the psu, not many will ever think about it- unless its a major upgrade. If something goes bad, so is your peace of mind. There are and have been people who said that my so and so psu is considered as "substandard" according to my standards but they live? You cant judge a power supply like that. That's not how things work and I am pretty a 12th pass guy can understand this.
Ofcourse if people are brave enough to put a good GC and stress it to see if it blows up- that's their wish.

Re: Grafix card needed under 6K.
@ the sorcerer
I didn't mean that those psu r good and superior....'
As 4670 doesn't require much power And a 6 pin connecter so he won't require a Corsair or tagan etc etc...'
And he will just play games and normal stuffs no ocing so a zebby or iball can handle the load it self...'
I just gave an cheap alternative as to save some bucks...!

Re: Grafix card needed under 6K.
If using a 9600GT requires a new PSU costing 3.2K more , i think i will have to postpone my buying.
Or I can get myself the ATI 4670 and keep the existing PSU.I am really confused!!!!.
Arnab boss has rightly said that i dont overclock or play games at his res.
i also remember recently changing my zebronics PSU with an iball one.
so I wont be able to buy a new one right away.i will definitely include a good PSU in my next upgrade, now that i have all this information.
i am really inclined towards 4670 right now.It seems to be the logical option for me

Re: Grafix card needed under 6K.
Why don't you upgrade PSU first if you can't upgrade both on one go.

hi guys,
I checked and found that i have this PSU: iBall LPE223-400.
Thanks for your suggestions Arnab boss,surinder,Sorcerer,dOm1naTOr
are 4670 and 9600GT in the same league?
also how good performer is 4670 against 9400GT and 9600GT.
@surinder: i cant buy a PSU right now as i had upgraded some 5 months back.

Re: Grafix card needed under 6K.
Go further down n down towards Nvidia 7300GS for the sake of escaping to buy a good PSU and you will end up still in the risk. Because its not just GFX card who deserve clean power and one should not think that way if my ell cheapo PSU can give the watts what are required no need for upgrade.
Lets do some calculations a good 80 plus efficient PSU like CX 400 @3.2K in your case will eventually cost you lesser then a ell cheapo PSU @ 0.3K less then 50% efficient typically within two years if you use your system eight hours a day within three years if you use your system five hours a day within. Health and safety of components of the system plus extra wattage in bonus.

Re: Grafix card needed under 6K.
If you r going with HD4670,u don't need new PSU.That i-ball PSU should do the job. Also HD4670 is almost as good as 9600GT and is very cheap too. With both 9600GT and HD4670 ,you will be able to max-out games on resolutions like 1440x900 with anti-analizing enabled in some games.

Re: Grafix card needed under 6K.
^^ Now thats cool!!!
Thanks for the info pavasedge.
I generally play at 1024x786 with all mid settings no AA
So now i am back to HD4670.
Also i read somewhere about 9600GT green edition that does not require 6 pin connector from the PSU.
Does anyone have any info about that card on this PSU.
Thanks

Re: Grafix card needed under 6K.
yes it will be a really wise decision you can have Corsair CX 400 @3.2K or so or Antec EA 430 @3.3K or so under your or best you can have VX 450 by a little stretch of 0.5K from your budget although you don't need that much power right now it can be helpful for future upgrades plus whole five years warranty instead of three years with above mentioned models.

Re: Grafix card needed under 6K.
@long discussion, but one statement is wrong about hybrid crossfire, you cannot do hybrid crossfire with 4xxx series ati gfx cards.
too all who said i-ball I say big no, I really hate i-ball products quality, go for a good PSU, they run longer and keep your stuffs also good,go for corsair PSUs mentioned by surinder Antec are not as good compared to corsair or coolermaster. You can also go for CM 500W which will cost you lesser than these as it is around 2.7-2.8K

Re: Grafix card needed under 6K.
just a suggestion, ur system dun require half the output of a Corsair VX 450.
an VX 450 can handle a quad along with a 9800GTX+ or a 4850.
though not much PSus in here comes close to the efficiency of the VX, but there are many gud ones too, even if not as efficient.
Zebronics Platinum 500 for 1.8k is a gud one. My frend is using an oced X2 with a 9800GTX with a couple of HDD w/o ny problem for around 2.5yrs now[earlier he had a 7800GTX] .
Even im using an oced X2 n an 8800GT with a Zebronics Pro 550[3k]...works like a charm.
if u goin for 4670, then get a 2k PSU, orelse if its 9600GT, get a gud one...
the green one jst doesnt need a 6 pin connector, consumes power close to the real one...but thru the PCI-E slot itself. Those power if drawn from the 20+4 pin's 4 pin to the mobo's PCIE buses..... nyway ull need a powerful PSU.

Re: Grafix card needed under 6K.
I think I'd rather get a good PSU and then get the 9600GT.
maybe I can strech my budget a bit and Get both at the same time... .or Jst get a good PSU and then 9600GT.
Thanks for your suggestion.
