Re: need a Motherboard for my pc!
Actually it is not that bad mobo what you are thinking about it. It is very much on course with your current configuration and you can add a ATI 4850 512MB DDR3 in 8K with no bottleneck in any manner.
If you still want to upgrade your MOBO for sum aging issues just buy ASUS P5KPL-CM in 2.3K along with earlier suggested GFX card.

Re: need a Motherboard for my pc!
@digital_thinker, what exactly do you mean by saying bottleneck?
In which areas are you experiencing slowness and if you are playing games, which games are running slow and at what resolution are you playing them?

Re: need a Motherboard for my pc!
i mean i can oc my processor effectively... ... and yes it las pci-e 2.0 (btw, will it improve performance?).. Moreover i cant go for higher speed RAM... Isnt that a problem? If no, then the problem is the age old board itself (xD)..

Re: need a Motherboard for my pc!
an increase in 133MHz won't make stellar difference. tell me, In which areas are you experiencing slowness and if you are playing games, which games are running slow and at what resolution are you playing them?
can't help with info that you gave.

Re: need a Motherboard for my pc!
and one more question... i also wanted to get an audio card especially for gaming, which card should fit in my budget of 2-3k?

-----------------------------------------
i just wanted to upgrade as i have money now (unlike last time i bought my pc)... guys here had suggested me to go for nvidia 630i based board but i didnt find one so went for intel 945GC based...
regarding the slowness, its pretty OK but cant max games like GTA 4 or sacred 2 or nfs undercover! I get a mere 30 FPS with or without AA in last two games... my resolution is 1440x990 (samsung 943 NWX)

Re: need a Motherboard for my pc!
Motherboard is not at all a bottleneck here. Sell that 9600GT and get Palit HD4870 1Gb or Palit GTX260 for 15.5k-16k
for sound card, Creative Sound Blaster Audigy Value 7.1 is available for some 1.5k

Re: need a Motherboard for my pc!
Dude if u goona overclock, u gonna need a strong PSU too. As desibond already mentioned that there won't be any bottleneck with any of ur config. especially on that resolution.
I don't recommend u to upgrade the board(unless u wanna overclock) but u can look for the P45 based board like MSI P45 NEo-F.
I 've even seen the GTA IV running on Pentium D, 2 gig. 667MHz & 8600GT with almost 20-24 FPS.
Ur config. is still better than what my friend running GTA IV on above one mentioned.

Re: need a Motherboard for my pc!
forget about 9800GTX and 9800GT.
Check out GTS250, which is rebranded 9800GTX+ and costs around 10k. It should be enough for 1440x900 and you need a 450W PSU for this

Now you got it right upgrading your GFX card serve you better then changing the mobo.
I think at 8.5K or so ATI 4850 512MB DDR3 holds best VFM for you.
