Reg: Hard Disk Upgrade

My Config

Dual Core Processor
DDR I 1gb Ram
Mercury PI865D7 Mother Board

Hi I am planning to upgrade my hard disk capacity from 40 to 250 or 320 GB(SATA).

Whether the upgraded disk will be compatible with existing config(as above)

Whether buying of Hard disk alone is enough or do I need to buy anything additionally ? Help me out

get Western Digital 500GB sata2 drive for 3k (you need to change jumper setting to make it work as SATA I drive)

SATA 2 works at 300Mb/s
SATA 1 works at 150Mb/s
