Interesting internet problem

hi
i have a local broadband internet with 256 kbps speed.
i connect through a client to the server. now i have observed a problem for last few days.

when i start a file download, after sometime the internet connection is down but the download continues at a speed in excess of 50kbps which is more than wht i shud get in a 256kbps connection. but webpages do not open. it is only when i reconnect with my client that i can surf. an1 has experienced such thing before.

i am using a wifi router so if that cud be a problem.

Are you using a DHCP connection type or PPPoE type?
