Default LAN


Yo, I've got 2 comps at home....one running XP(comp A) has a net connection.....the one running Windows 7 beta(comp B) doesn't

How do i setup a LAN between these two systems and share my connection to the net???

Am a total complete layman, so keep it simple please!!!

Use a router.

Make sure the two pc have some similar address
example:

198.100.200.1
198.100.200.2

If you are just connecting 2 computers (and don't need to share resources) you don't need a router. Just a hub which would cost you about Rs. 600 or so I guess.

Otherwise I believe you get a router for as low as Rs.1400 or so.

btw which net r u going to use, i mean isp? some isp like mtnl requires router to connect to them. if so, u can make a lan through that router only and connect two PCs, one through usb and other through the lan socket.

If you only need lan between two PC and both PC have Ethernet ports which is common these days. then you only need a cross cable which is available @ Rs 10 per meter.
