system dead - plz help

Hi all,

My system suddenly stopped functioning. There are no lights from the pc case & processor fan is not running & no beep sounds. The system is completely dead. Please help. Thanks!!!

i'm a newb here so please help. my system configuration: intel pentium 4 1.6 ghz, 40gb hdd, nvidia geforce fx 5200, biostar ta 690g , 512 mb ram.

That's not possible. The board which you have is an AMD board.

Thank u . i'm not sure of the exact model of the motherboard. i think it is something like ip35. How do i see the motherboard model number?

From where did you get to know it was BIOSTAR TA 690g motherboard.
And an pentium 1.6 Ghz processor ?? Your motherboard as a AMD AM2 socket.
Still i think this has got to be related to something with power supply,either from SMPS or your UPS or powersupply line.

Open up ur cpu box ,power on the cpu and see if u can find a green color led light glowing on ur mother board. or may be any color light glowing. if yes then ur getting power to the mother board , ur SMPS is alright. If no then then try borrowing the similar make smps from any sources u know and check if the light on the Motherboard glows or not. let me know wat happ.
