DVD Drive spoilt?

I have a liteon dvd drive which is around 2 yrs old. For the past few months it doesnt read all dvds and cds. Sometimes after restarting the pc it can detect it again sometime it doesnt. The dvds and cds which it cant read it makes a "kich" sound. Is the dvd drive gone bad or something else is wrong?

If its bad then which one to buy now? Whats the price?

Even my 8 months old LiteOn is also having same problem.

I guess for me (and may be for u too) its lack of use. And dust on lense.

Try a lense cleaner, if that doesn't solve the issue, then its time for a new drive.
Samsung's new octage drives are good, I've one them too(Mine SH203B). It has not shown any problem till date.
Price would be under 1200/-
