ac97 not detected

hi people, am new to this, let me start. i have an old system(intel p4 1.7 128 sdram, pci vga card, onboard ac97 & pci creative sound card). 1st of all onbord ac97 not detected and i hear many noises(only) from onbord sound. on the other hand my creative is getting detected as mm sound controler in dev. manager, but the driver setup says ther is no sound card, tried to D/L new driver but same result. the pci slots are fine (tested with vga card). so pls give me a solution as i tried evrithing else, thankyou

Try to insert that sound card on a different pci slot.

Ya. There is a setting in every bios to disable onboard sound.
