Considering price/performance.. Q6600 and Q9450 are equally good but later one is more costlier and offers more performance..

Re: Which is better -- Q6600s or Q9xxxs Core 2 Quads??
They run cooler, consume less power, overclock well and are at higher clocks.. some even have higher cache.. but I doubt if you can fit them in budget of 15k.. you may have to make compromise in some other components of your system..

I would pick Q9xxx or Q8xxx over Q6600. q6600 has become old.

Re: Which is better -- Q6600s or Q9xxxs Core 2 Quads??
I've got an Intel Core 2 Q9550-2.83GHz from nehru place...
and it was advised by the agent 001 og digit mag...I blv this is going to be as good as anything for me. I am also quite sure this would be a very good future proof cpu.
at least I got to blv man...I have invested 17800(with shipping) for it....
Now I am looking for a good mobo.
cheers buddy...

Re: Which is better -- Q6600s or Q9xxxs Core 2 Quads??
Yeah I'm willing to go for Q8200 + MSI P45 Platinum...
Can someone plz tell me the street prices of these two in Nehru Place, New Delhi.
But Q8200 has got only 4MB cache whereas Q6600 has 8MB. Doesn't that affect performance???

Hmmm.. I seem to be getting some idea.
How will Q9300 do??
@damngoodman999 I dunno why but I don't like the sound of AMD since I came to know abt them! So I won't be going for it... No offence dear!!!

sound of AMD??? come on, they are the reason why Intel is doing so much of R&D and they are the reason why graphics has become so much affordable.
Wait for Phenom II. even if you don't like it, you will get a good deal for Intel processors (expected price cuts from Intel)

Re: Which is better -- Q6600s or Q9xxxs Core 2 Quads??
First of all......Q6600 rules....period.
65nm vs 45nm...power consumption???? cmon man, we arent bothered about the electricity bill......the fabrication process just makes it more energy efficient....and lemme be clear, 65 nm isnt too high either...not very long timee ago did people happily 90nm processors and were happy with that
CACHE SIZE MATTER.....A LOT.
8mb hits the sweet spot in terms of performance.....Q6600 is every overclocker's dream proccy man..fith the budget and gives the performance like a mad dog....
but the only thing is that it's ideal for multitaskers and video editors...
if ya want to get into gaming then a core2dou (e8400) would out perform Q6600 in terms of FPS. This is coz of the fact that games can utilize 2 cores very very efficiently...
for any other matter than games, go for Q6600...and dont be turned down by the stock speed of 2.4Ghz....it can be OCed to a cool 2.8Ghz with a decent cooling solution...
Go for the Q6600 man...it's really cheap at 10k....it's already so low priced coz of the the Q9XXX series by Intel that you dont need to think twice...

Re: Which is better -- Q6600s or Q9xxxs Core 2 Quads??
OK guys!!! I did read the reviews on Phenom II 920 and was impressed a lot!!!
Seriously man I gave up following AMD technology since 2 years and man this is something they come back with!!!!
I'm now seriously reconsidering my options with Phenom 920
Hence, I'd really appreciate if you ppl can also advise me a good MoBo considering ASUS M3A79... Are there some good MSI & Gigabyte options available??
I'm willing to extend my budget upto 18K now....

For ur information Phenom 2 920 is DDR2 support , surely buy the 4GB DDR 800 u wont go wrong with phenom 2 !!!
Good news for u . the stock heat sink is upgraded on the phenom 2 it comes with 5 copper heat pipes & PHENOM 2 920 is GO STEPPING 1 proccy ,
OFFTOPIC:::
I know y u regret AMD cause , AMD marketing is very poor in INDIA as INTEL they captured the market launching the powerful proccies earlier and stable market with intel
One thing - AMD is very late in launching the 45nm proccy , but still the prices are gr8 on the launch time sure it ll reduce in no time !!!
As for ur 790G chipset mobo ,, sure u can go for the ASUS, GIGAbyte anything !!!
AS for mobo ASk DESIBOND for good selection in mobo or forum members , cause i am not aware of 790g chipset mobo cause some of them are not stable AFAIK!!
