Default System Atomatic Shutdown

My pc shuts down automatically when i run games like far cry 2 nd rainbows six vegas two.
I have to unplug the power cord and put it back again to restart it.

My system configuration is as follows :

AMD Phenom x4 9550
asus m3a78-em motherboard
4 gb kingston 667 mhz ram
500 gb western digital hard disk
cabinet with 450 watt psu
samsung dvd writer 22x
xfx 8600gt grfx card

It runs ok while playing movies and surfing while it cant stay for over 10 minutes in games.

What could be the problem , please help !!!!

The temperature in normal conditions ( browsing, etc) are 45-50 c for the proccy and 30-35 C for the mobo.

Pls help

I could not get this, why would u need to unplug the power cord to restart? It is in no way related to PC.
Can u elaborate the previous case scenario which drove u to do this?

As per ur PC config, its a bit power hungry system but u've only 450Watt of PSU, make it at least 500-550Watt.

It does not start without that, even though i press the power on switch several times, but if the power cord is reconnected to the psu it starts again.

And are the temps normal , i am running the stock cooler with no overclocking.

Wink Re: System Atomatic Shutdown

There surely some loose connection going on. Check it. Check earthing too.

And ur temp looks normal to me.

Which power supply? Certain companies barely mean what they put on their psu sticker. Your proccy has a tdp of 125w so its pretty hungry processor. We need to do some basic checks first
Boot the machine with only one ram on the first DIMM slot. Google for orthos, download it and run it for 2-3 hours. If it doesnt restart or give error, check the other rams the same way. If you get error or restart on any of those rams- they could have gone bad.
If not....
boot up with all 4GB and run orthos blend test. If it reboots then surely the psu is failed to live upto its expectations.

Google for HD tach and run an error test on the hard drive to see if you have bad sectors. If you have, get the hard drive replaced.
Do let us know the brand of the psu.

^then thatmight be it...case PSU's are very cheap quality...did you try orthos? thats the best stability and temp test.

Change the PSU. Get a 500 - 550W PSU. Those cheap PSUs say they provide 450W but actually they supply not more than 250-300W. Get a POV 500W or Corsair 500W PSU. I think your problem will be solved.
