Default CPU overheating

From somedays my PC automatically get restarted without any reason, i was unable to find reason, but then i download intel desktop utility from intel manufractureressite, my cpu is intel core2duo E6550( 2.3 Ghz) , 2 Gb ram.

yesterday I installed unreal tournament 2004 at that time when i started this game, the intel desktop utility which is running in background show me notice that the cpu is overheating (above 69 degree celcius), IS this the reason for which my computer get restarted?

CPU fans rpm is setted to 2000.
should I apply new thermal paste over processor?

Keep the cpu rpm setting to automatic. Clean away any dust on the cpu fans. Did you overclock on those stock heatsinks by any chance? Next time post your system specs including psu.

+1 My overheating issue was fixed after that. I did it myself but if you are not used to motherboard fitting then take the help of a comp pro.
