Cool Performance increase from Pentium D to quad core?

How much increase in performance will i get on upgrading from:-
Pentium D 945 @ 3.4GHz,
2GB DDR2 667MHz RAM,
intel 945GCNL mobo and XFX 7600gt 256MB DDR3
to
Core 2 Quad Q9550 @ 2.83GHz,
2GB DDR3 1066MHz RAM,
intel DP45SG mobo and Palit 9800gt 512MB DDR3

I want to know performance gains in Gaming (NFS, crysis, farcry2) and in 3Dsmax, maya, etc.

im plannin to get another 2GB RAM in the abt 2 months, since my new mobo has 4 ram slots.

@ sreedharvenugopal - The rig you are going for will give you hell lot of a performance.
That 9550 is 45nm I think & runs cooler than q6600.
If you have the money go for it.

Just Buy Asus P5Q mobo & Evga, Palit or MSI 9800GTX+ gfx card.

Latest versions of 3Ds max & Maya use CUDA technology.

DONT upgrade now. Wait for AMD Phenom II. Phenom II 940 is as fast as Q9550 (or atleast faster or equal to Q9450). It has an advantage that motherboards are damn cheap and expansion slots are plenty.

OR, you can get Phenom II 925. It can overclock a lot.

And for mobo, get a 790GX mobo for 6.3K. Has great OC capabilities with SB750 southbridge and supports CROSSFIREX and also has onboard graphics.

Get 4GB DDR2 800MHz RAM, it wouldn't affect speed much over 2GB DDR3 1066 RAM, rather, it would increase performance in some 3D and Imaging applications. And it has better latencies.

Use the Rs. 3000 odd you save by getting DDR2 instead of DDR3 RAM to get a better graphics card - I suggest Palit HD4850 Sonic. Would cost Rs. 1,500 more than 9800GT. Much Much better performance.

And remaining money saved can be used for a good cooling solution for PC.

Just wait till January end for it to reach India.
