Default Connecting Modem /Router and wireless Router

Greetings everyone,
I have a Dlink 502T Modem/router and I wanted to add a wireless access point for my laptop to use, so I purchased a Dlink dir 300.
Then after a lot of fiddling around I found a simple way to join them together so I thought I'd post it to show how.

I am no network expert so forgive me if what I say is a bit clumsy!

Step 1) Disconnect the DSL 502T and plug in the wireless Dir 300 into the network card on your computer and the Wan port of the router.
Log in to the wireless router( DIR 300) and simply tick the box that says "use as an Access point"!
Save settings , and logout of the router.
(If you have Network Magic software you can log in to the router very easily , otherwise you will have to make a temporary change to the Tcpip settings in the Network properties using the Router address e.g. 192.168.0.1 or 10.1.1.1)

Step2) Plug the DSL502T in to a Lan port on the Wireless Dir300, and plug the Network Card into another of the available Lan ports of the Dir300.

Do not use the Wan port on the Dir 300.

Thats all there is to it ! it was really simple thanks to the tick box in the wireless router that disables all the unnessessary settings and turns the router into an access point only.

Restart the DSL 502T router and bingo ,everything works fine.

Also don't forget to make a static IP address on your computer and to setup a Utorrent portforwarding rule in the DSL502T to enable faster downloads. That really works!

Hope that helps and a tick for Dlink for something that works !

well I will say good work, its more important you try things on your own than just to rely on anyone else coming to do it for you.
Its same for first timer or geek.
