For 40k, u can settle for a low level E7200 and OC it and use the saved money on a good gfx card and PSU.

quad cores are taking the crown of gaming as more and more games are optimised for it and will continue to do so in the future.

Then better if you buy it in the future as by that time more efficient technology will be out & current technology will cost less.

You should be able to take out maximum work from your current hardware & use it efficiently.

^By future i meant all the games coming out from jan next year...GTA 4 can barely even be played on a dual core, that will happen to more games that come out in 2 months or so

why waste when you everything becomes obsolete in one year.
Get a C2D. Its best VFM. If you are some serious physics lab attendant constantly doing calculations conjecture abt next doomsday then get a PS3 and use its cell processor.

he does not need HD4850
for movie watching and all bigger screen
not ViewSonic 1940VX @ 10.5k
get a good 22 incher in 14-15K and buy a mid range gfx card like 9600GT, which helps you run good movies

I think u should go for C2Q as new games will recommand it.

Take for eg GTA IV as shown in its requiremnts it recommands Intel C2Q....so for future gaming c2q is must...GTA- IV is only the starting for future QuadCore Gaming.

As u have 40k budget use it and go for the best rig as possible and if needed OC it

Well, first he asks Core 2 Quad and Core 2 Duo, then he says mid range gaming card.

What do u guys think huh? A 9600GT reach a bottleneck b'fore the Q6600 does?

For a 9600GT, even a E7200 is too much, especially for watching movies.

I think this is not a ideal time for upgrading...as LGA775 socket & C2D are going down....& new socket means LGA1366 & core i7-i5 are coming...so upgrading after 3/4 months will be better & will be more future proof ...also windows 7 is coming..I think this time it will rock...will not fail like vista

WHat's the use of waiting for Win7?

So he'll be waiting fruitlessly for a DX11 GPU and then he wudn't even buy one.
