Question Different Hardware Problems

1>i have two ram sticks a 1gb ddr2 800mhz transcend(5-5-5) & an exactly similar 2gb ram.i have installed the 2 gb ram in the first slot of my asus p5kc m/b..likewise the 1gb is in the second slot..now if i ever change the slots of the ram..my monitor doesn't display anything..i think my gfx card doesnot work then..the monitor just stays blank...nothing?why is this happening & how do i resolve this?

2>i have 2 hdd's- an 80gb(usable 74.35gb) IDE hdd & a 360gb(usable 330gb) SATA hdd..both are from seagate..i have installed win xp pro sp3 on a 15gb partition in my 80gb hdd.my 360gb is for data only..the problem is sometimes when i turn on my pc the 80gb doesnot get detected & i get the error no boot device selected..reboot & select proper boot device.sometimes it is detected but in my bios it is listed as the 2nd hdd & the 360gb as the first hdd..i have set my 80gb as the 1st hdd & as the 1st boot device but still sometimes these change! i have to go to bios & correct them again.why is this happening & how do i resolve it?

my system specs--asus p5kc m/b, intel core2quad q9300(2.5ghz), 1x2gb & 1x1gb ddr2 800mhz ram, palit hd4850 gfx card, 80gb ide hdd & 360gb sata hdd,coolermaster extreme power 600w, samsung sh-s223b dvd-rw, zebronics antibiotic cabinet.
please help me solve my problems. thank you.

Default Re: Different Hardware Problems

1.Possibly you have a bad RAM slot...Install the RAMs in the same coloured slots...In some cases the motherboard requires RAM to be installed in particular slts depending on how many sticks you have...for eg. my DG33TL mobo wont boot unless both RAMs are in the black slots...check your motherboard manual to see if this is the problem.

2. You either have a bad or dying hard disk or a bad ide port or maybe even a faulty cable...Try your HDD on another mobo if available, try changing to a different IDE cable, plug in a different IDE HDD onto the same mobo and see if that gets detected each time.
