Smile Can I use 6 Gb memory on the MSI P-45 Neo-F motherboard?

I wish to buy 3*2 GB Kingston 800 MHz DDR2 Ram for the MSI P45 Neo-F motherboard.

What is the significance of dual-channel memory?

Is there any performance problem if I install 6 GB of memory on 3 of the 4 slots ?

yes u can use 6GB of ram on P45 Neo-F.
though to use that ram u need to install a 64bit OS and only 64bit apps can use that much of ram.better go with 2*2Gb ram.latencies will be better than 3*2GB setup.

Dual-Channel mem setup provides double the bandwidth (128-bit) than single ch (64-bit)

see this

what hellgate said is absolutely right
go for 2x2gb i.e. 4GB instead of 6GB

go for 2x2GB and not 3x2GB, why because this mobos supports 4GB RAM single stick, let them be in the market and then buy them, in htat way your money will be saved. besides why you need 6GB

Dual channel works twice BUT ONLY PAPER! Practically its almost same as single channel says the test result frm Tom's Hardware.

To use full 6GB of ram u need a 64-bit OS coz 32 bit OSes uses addresses which are at max 32 bits long i.e 2^32=4 GB max addressable mem in a 32 bit OS.
