Question Help Needed in Upgrading and Solving Problems in Old Pc

Hi Guys,

I am having a very old PC
Intel P4 1.8 GHZ
Mercury Mobo with intel 845GL chipset. (1AGP, 2PCI slot)
64 MB Intel 845GL integrated video card
256 MB DDR ram (2 DDR, 2 SDR SLOT)
80 GB IDE HD
Samsung DVD writer
17" SAMSUNG crt monitor

I was having a plan of buying a new pc this December, but due to some problems it was postponed to next year may. The laptop which I am expecting is also delayed. So I am planning to upgrade my pc just to kill 6 months time.

My total budget is now around 7k.

Should I upgrade this or sell it and buy some low end cpu mobo & ram for 7k.

If upgrade means
1) Can I upgrade my PC to play some games (not latest, may be upto 2006- 07)
2) Can some ram and PCI graphics card be added.
3) Is over clocking possible in my system.

If Buy menas please suggest some basic cpu, mobo with IGP, and ram with 7k, rest I will use it from my old system it self. For old cpu, ram, mobo how much will I get. Please include that also in budget

General problems in PC
1) Whenever I boot my PC, its throwing error like "bios setting is wrong" or "CMOS setting is corrupt press F2". Even If I load the correct value means also the same error is repeating. (While starting mercury logo will appear but CPU-Z is showing my mobo is ECS and model is M903UXX)
2) While booting sometime the beep sound is not coming and nothing is getting displayed. If I remove and reconnect my ram again it works fine. wat to do?
3) DVD drive is not ejecting and closing properly. If CD is not in bay means its not ejecting. Some time is not closing properly the tray is opening again and again even after closing.
4) Monitor is not powering on properly. After I press the on button, the power will come and go immediately. After pressing the button for several times only the power will be there (some times it can never be powered on )

Please clear all my queries.

Thanks in Advance.

General problems in PC proposed Solutions
1) Change the mobo battery and see.
2) No comments
3) happened to me as well. I had a combo drive with the same problem. I tried taking it apart and cleaning it but it didn't work.
4) No comments

Its my opinion but its better to just upgrade the RAM or not upgrade anything at all.
Just sell the PC after six months and use it as it is now, maybe add some RAM in the meantime.
