Question Virus Has Turned Removable Media ( Micro SD ) To Read-Only

Hello Everyone ,

As i have explained in the thread title , i attached my MicroSD card in a fellow's lappy and alongwith the data transfer , came an unknown hidden system file by the name of virusscan.vbs ! i chkd it with kaspersky online file scanner and it detected it as a virus !
So i booted my PC thru uBuntu Linux Live Disc and was quite happy that i'll remove the virus at once , but wait , even uBuntu ( and even windows ) gave the error on deletion that data is on a read-only drive ! so now , i m unable to delete the virus file !

Any suggestion what to do further ?

Thanks in anticipation.

Regards,
BBThumbHealer !

Default Same problem here!!!!! :-(

I have the same problem with my card. Because of virus I was unable to write, format or to remove that virus. Allthough I can't format in window so I format that card in my cellphone, so because of that i am able to remove the virus. I check it with AVG antivirus all the virues are gone but the read only problem is still there. I still can't write or format my miro sd in window. It's work fine in my cellphone.

First Could you give more information?
Which Ubuntu Version is the Live CD of?
Has the Pen Drive Mounted wih Write Permissions?

Did you format with GParted?

You alternatively try a Knoppix Live CD too?
