Unhappy Ram issues

Recently brought 2x2GB Trancend ram,but the problem is it only shows 3GB ram.
Motherboard is MSI P45 NEO F.
So, I asked the assembler to come and check tomorrow.
What do you think, what is the problem? How can it be fixed.?

first check in BIOS.

if you are using 32-bit operating system, it can't show more than 3.5Gb

move to vista/xp 64bit.

Dude. Am running Vista on a 2Gb ram and a 2yr old 2.3GHz single core processor.

your vista should run without a hiccup.

But, before you upgrade, run Vista upgrade advisor to check if your h/w has proper drivers for Vista.

By your siggy, it should be fine.

Vista 32-bit should run fine on 4gig ram but only 3.5gig will be recognized.

Vista 64 bit should be able to run without any problem on 4gig ram.

I think there is a switch that when added to the bootloader config enables using physical address extensions present on modern processors to enable access to ram beyond 32bit boundary. I dont remember exactly what was it. Google it.
