HD4850. No second thought.
PS: You shouldn't be confused between 8800GT and HD4850.
Get Palit HD4850 for 9.5k. you won't find much difference between MSI and Palit

Your friend needs to check his facts before he yanks out. Ask him which game & I guarantee it's supported.

Some games do have anvantage with NVIDIA but the advantage is nominal (except Tom Clancy's games).
Go for Palit HD4850 512MB GDDR3.

^^I think GRAW2 Max, 2xAA on a 9800GTX+ and GRAW2 Max, 2xAA on HD4850 has the same image quality. The difference is of frames, where ATI loses badly on Tom Clacy games... dunno why.

Dude that's performance patterns & not compatibility problems. It basically depends on optimisations for certain games. Not every game is Nvidia optimised & vice versa. BTW between 8800GT & HD4850 you won't face any such issue as the 4850 would gobble up the 8800GT is probably all resolutions.

U no need to buy the PALIT HD 4850 sonic , it dont make much difference from the PALIT HD 4850 even for cooling also u can manually overclock to 675/1033 , which equals the performance of the SONIC !!

Re: ATI HD 4850 (or) 8800GT..suggest for buying
This is the best buy . Palits sonic versions are always worth buying. They are overclocked with good efficient cooling.
Now buy COD4 type of games. Original if you prefer Online gaming. Because I had seem many gammers with pirated ones and they can't play online.

Now asking for a tutorial will be encouraging piracy. What about Counter Strike source.

This is you should play as per your age. In this age either you become coward or brave . Its in later age that you mix some sense with it. I had started adding a lot of sense to my gaming and other activities now a days. I used to be one of the high speed biking boy of my city. But now the speed reduced to 45kmph. With a lot of braking.

congrats...but 12800+ ...i guess MRP is increased now...
while developing games they test in both chipsets ATI/Nvidia...so no question of optimization...otherwise if they start making 4 only Nvidia then who will buy ATI...
u will get some very minute difference when u compare both image enhancements...
