The new Intel processors and the respective chipset, X58, have been released.

• Core i7 965 Extreme at 999 USD (enthusiast)

• They have 4 physical cores (8 logical) on a 45nm fabrication process all on a single die.
  
• 731 Million transistors.
  
• No FSB -- the fast interconnect peripherals directly communicate with the chip, known as QPI -- Quick Path Interconnect.
  
• Hyper threading is back (from the P4 days).
• Mounted on a new socket LGA1366 (Socket B) -- complimented by DDR3 memory support (can support triple channel).

Asus has a mother board for this CPU - P6T Deluxe.
