I too experienced this problem. First, discharge your mp3 player completely. For this, try to keep it on as long as you can. Next, format it. Then reinstall firmware after connecting to PC. And finally restore the songs to it. You should be fine.
For me, the first step itself brought the mp3 player back to fresh state. I own a T Sonic 610 2GB btw.

Yeah. You need to backup all data on the mp3 player first, in a folder. Then download latest firmware from transcend-usa.com (or whatever transcend's site is called - I forgot). Then run its installer.
