Graphics card & PSU upgrade suggestions

Hi! I'm looking for a gfx card upgrade under 5K. My config is:

{
AMD Athlon64 X2 3800+
ASUS M2N-MX motherboard
1.5GB DDR2
160 GB HDD
}

I'm currently on an ASUS EN6200TC 64/256MB and a stock 350W PSU. I think I'll need a new PSU as well. So what would be your recommendations? And how much dough (if any) can I get for that ancient gfx card of mine?
Keep in mind, I can't stretch my budget by too much!

Palit 9600GSO 384MB 6.5k + Generic 500W PSU = 7k.
If you cant stretch then a 8600GT + 500W PSU

How much will a 8600GT & a 500W PSU cost? I'm thinking a 256MB GDDR3 version would be better, whatsay? As for a PSU, your reply suggests it would only cost about Rs.500, great!!! Any idea about the price of a second-hand 6200TC, anyone??

Would go around 1.2k.u need to find a buyer though.i suggest u put this on sale on techenclave.a lot of ppl there look for this card.

As for the new card, I'm leaning towards the 8600GT with 256MB GDDR3 memory. What brand should I go for? XFX is good but I've heard that they charge a premium coz of the brand name.

I'd suggest msi or palit.but if u really want some decent performance that lasts longer go for palit 9600gso for 6.5k.

I could go for the 9600GSO, but I'm not quite sure if it'll be available here in Bhopal. Even if it is, I'm expecting it to be overpriced

U can order it from theitwares or lynx india.there won't be any poblem with the card or in case of availing warranty.its way better than 8600gt.

dont go for 8600GT if u can afford a 9600GSO.8600GT is old.
