Default Looking for a system upgrade for graphics editing

Hey ppl,
i got a pretty old computer; 256 mb ram, 32mb onboard graphics, 1.9 ghz p4... (stop bloody laughing ) and have to do lots of photoshop, pagemaker and 3d studio max... planning to go in for 1gig of ddr2 533mhz ram and a geforce 5200.... my budget is about 10 grand.... but am confused between the 5200 and the Ti (lots of ppl on some threads say that the Ti is better while many insist on the 5200)

any ideas??

1gb RAM will cost about 5-6K, then how can you accomodate 7600GT + 1GB RAM in 10K?
Get 1GB DDR @ 33MHz, i think that's the max. supported by 845 boards. And for remaining you can get a 7300gt or 7600gt. Dunno about ATI cards.

For Rs.10000/- you can only get 7300GT & 1GB RAM 400Mhz (as it would be difficult to get 333Mhz RAM these days but 400Mhz will do as it will run on 333Mhz on ur PC).

XFX 7300GT = Rs.5500/-
Transcend 1GB 400Mhz RAM = Rs.4200/-

If you go for XFX 7600GT that alone will cost you almost Rs.10000/-

But if you can wait till mid or end April the 8300GS (DX10 compatible)cards will be out.

@caleb
the 8 series never gonna release on AGP. As he wants animation worx his card should support max effects. For his system GF 7 series is max it can have. If hes not a gamer, then no need to go fot GT. Any GF7 series card with 256 MB would do.
Get a 7300GS 256 nd 1GB or greater 400Mhz memory is fine.
If he have 4 mem slots then get an additional 512 for 2500 nd total mem becomes
1GB+512+256(older one)=1792MB ram.
With such amount of RAM he can surely get gr8 perfomance in photoshop nd animation.

for max or maya, your 5200 is enough, just up the ram to 2g, you will need it....in vest on RAM not the graphics card.....you only use graphic card on view port , it does not come in to picture when u do the rendering , invest on cpu and ram.....if u have any left, then invest on card.....else stick with 5200, for the time being, or get 6600gt and softmode it to quadra....but you wont find much of an improvement.....for post production works, you will find a definite improvement with quadra...

Ya.a 7600GT or GS is just a waste of money for him. Better get RAM or a huge HDD for the money as he just want photoshop nd animation.
