I got a PSP...Yayyy!!!...waitaminit...wtf???

My wife gifted me a PSP S&L... honestly!

So far so good. I bought Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09 to play and the PSP forced me to update the firmware to 4.01 (it was on the UMD) before it would run the game. Me being the dumbass... i said sure...why not?

Now I discover there is a world of great stuff called "homebrews" out there which I cant use... and also i cant go back to the old firmware without a lot of complications.

Total n00b in PSP matters, i scoured the internet for ways to do more with my new toy, but i got completely lost in ofw/cfw/pandora batteries and all sorts of other freaky words that i couldnt piece together to form a decent picture...

so here i am, asking-

"WHAT CAN I DO WITH MY PSP, AND HOW CAN I DO IT?"

Well, u need to mod ur PSP to be able to use homebrew(a.k.a user made games, apps etc..) and most importantly U can play DOWNLAODED games w'out the need of buying Rs.1500/- or so priced UMDs...

modding doesnt just means that running paid games for free , with homebrewing you have full control over the psp's hardware . you can run emulators and ps1 games also and there are whole lot of developer as well as amazing applications out there .

yes, u can play licensed games on ur PSP, but the newer and stable the Firmware (say 3.90 m333 is the stable firmware but NOT the newest, as it is 3-4 months old and 4.05 the latest firmware) the better for ur PSP.

Get 3.90 m333 CFW for ur PSP...

ok i googled pandora and there seem to be half a dozen methods of making one...can one buy these readymade in india? how much do they cost?

... also there is some speculation that the latest psps and their batteries may be pandora proof...any truth in that?

and here's a good one...is there any homebrew that'll run on ofw 4.01?

also...read somewhere that even after modding, some homebrew runs only on the old psp and not the slim and lite...

there is FULL truth that the latest PSPs are pandora proof and modding proof.

Y the hell u making urself confused, jus follow users comments adn do as they say (we all hv PSPs adn hv done it the same way) following other users wen were ready to buy the PSPs

for the last time, get ur PSP modded with 3.90 m333 CUSTOM FIRMWARE from a modder wich will cost u Rs.500/- ONLY and please If u DONT wanna break ur PSP, u DO NOT mod it urself..

you tell me i can run licensed games after i mod the psp...thats not entirely true since the latest cfw is 3.90 but my licensed copy of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09 requires 4.01... so if i had listened to you and got my psp modded, i'd be stuck with an expensive licensed game that i couldnt play until DarkAleX came up with the upgrade to his cfw...

looks to me like you are clueless and trying to pretend otherwise... give it a rest, bro...do everyone a favour and dont give anymore advice.

afaik there is a plugin for CFW to show any firmware to the game , say u can edit your fw version to 9.90 and the game will run . also newer T-0833 v3 motherboards are mod Proof

the phat psp can play homebrew written for 1.50 but slim cannot (without Time machine ) PSP slim can run CFW Apps which are also nice


PS: Time machine also requirs pandora battery each time to run

4.01 CFW was out long time ago, so your tiger woods Problem is also solved. Getting your PSP modded with some shopkeeper will save lot of headache, and once you are on CFW you are not stuck on that same CFW for ever , you can yourself upgrade to new CFW in just couple of minutes (download it and install like a software , no other stuff needed).

well, if my reply offended u, i apologise, but ur words weren't pleasing either.. I never told tat u always take my advice..

neways... wat i wated to say was this, SONY (SONY worldwide and SONY INDIA) have announced that all their current line up of PSP SLIM & LITE (PSP 2000) will be replaced by the PSP 3000 ones and these are all pandora proof coz the motherboard will NOT allow for any modding (modification done to the flash set memory in order to run cfw)

They also added that all the PSPs (PSP2000) will be replaced sooner than later in the coming weeks of october, 08 (maybe they must hv already started to replace the PSP2000's) PSP2000=Rs.8990/- official and PSP3000=Rs.13K (approx.)

Also, I too hv Tiger Woods 09 and it runs smooth on my 3.90 m333 (cfw), infact even the latest FIFA 09 and many more games runs smoothly on it,

I never disrespect a poster on a forum, but if u felt otherwise I again apologise, I am no EXPERT in PSP, just told u my own experience (after running approx. 50+ games on the PSP), infact none of us here is a Pro modder himself and we all start from scratch tats the reason y i told u to follow other's reply and NOT mine, if u hv read my reply )

Also I agree with ashu (though he did sound a bit off........if I may put it that way) that gettind a PSP modded through someone who has actuclly done is couple of times is always good. When I got my PSP I insisted to do it by myself but I still did it in front of my friend who knew what we were doing. Modding a PSP makes it a true multipurpose device and its worth. Once you have modded your PSP then its easy to follow loads of tut available online with which you can truly enjoy your device. If you will dicuess here people can guide you to an exact usefull tut, coz most of us have already bangged their head on quite a few ones................Best of luck and do let us know the current status of your PSP

i think i am the only person who modded the psp by himself ( i did try hardmodding too by cutting the soldering but FAIL ) but i soon got pandora and modding was then piece of cake . i dont fear anytime to do experiments with my psp (as pandora/cfw can be used for recovery)

Well i think this mobo is available ONLY with the new PSPs a.k.a PSP3000 so if u hv a PSP SLIM & LITE wich is modelSP 2000 then u surely DO NOT hv this mobo and (yes u can sigh a relief, i can hear this..loll) that u can MOD ur PSP. if u are still not able to figure out, plz refer to ur manual or the PSP box, or as far as i remember, look under the battery of the PSP to make sure it is PSP2000 model.. hope im clear this time and calm in my reply..lol..
