Doom 3 Problem : Loading Never Completes!

I own a legit copy of Doom 3. But the problem is that after installing it on XP/Vista, whenever I select New Game, the program briefly shows the Loading screen and then returns back to the main menu.

I also installed the latest 1.3 patch for it but no avail.

BTW I did a extensive search on the Google and tried many possible solutions but they are also not effective.

Just by curiosity I opened the terminal after getting back to the main menu and got an error :

Error: C:\Program Files\Doom 3\base/pak000.pk4/maps/game/mars_city1.map, line 23430 : expected float value, found ' /common/monster_cli.96i'

It is so confusing.

Do anyone having similar problems ? Please help if someone knows the solution.

Try copying the pak000.pk4 file from the CD to the installation directory ("C:\Program Files\Doom 3\base\") and overwrite the existing file. Also, how much space is left on ur C drive??

My System Configuration is somehow dated but enough to run DOOM 3. Take a look,
P4 1.8Ghz (OC 2.25 GHz), 1.25 GB DDR RAM, AsRock 845 GV MoBo with AGI Slot (AsRock version of AGP), and nVidia GeForce FX 5200.

I will try to overwrite it. BTW I have 4 GB left and that is excluding the virtual memory.

Have you tried isolating the issue with the game in another PC may be?

Yeah, now I have tried that also but no avail.
