PS2 for 3.5K worth buying...??

I'm getting an offer to buy a minimally used (read as 6 months old) PS2 for 3.5K along with the accessories and 8mb mem card and a few games too.. My question is simple.. Is it worth buying..? Can I double it up as a DVD player too, 'coz I wanted to buy one in less than a month's time.. Please let me know soon..!

If you are a gaming freak then buying that will not help since very little or no games are coming out for the PS2 now...

not really a gaming freak.. need some gaming entertainment.. thats all..! And this is my first foray into the console world, so do not want to invest too much right now without experiencing it..! Is it worth at that cost compared to a new one..

3.5K is not dat bad a price for a PS2

try gettin it for 3K

you can play all the games of PS2 and they would also cost a lot less to buy them [quoting DIGIT and i agree]

not a bad thing to have just for casual game play

still try to get it down to the 3-3.2 range

and even if price is not reduced, i'd say 3.5 is not bad either

BUT check the console properly b4 purchasing it

u wudnt want 2 spend money on a console that refuses to start without being tapped, kicked or hammered

and good luck. it can also accept certain OSes to be isntalled in it, so it can serve as a computer and a DVD player too(thanks to Xine)

I think it can already watch DVD movies.

Who says you can't be a hardcore gamer on a PS2 ? Just because you don't have the top most configuration and the latest games doesn't mean that you can't be a hardcore gamer. A gamer can handle any system, but his main skill is playing. Not having a fat wallet or something.

There are several Hit Titles for the PS2, and now that its modded, you can easily buy/download games for it for dirt cheap(the former needs cash, the later electricity) rates.

If you have a decent TV, you can make the best out of the PS2.
