FEAR is THE GAME....My experience.....

Guys I finally finished FEAR n FEAR EP. Now left for me to play is HL2. I completed Quake 4, DOOM 3,PREY and FARCRY, and I'd say FEAR is an all time kiss ass of a game. I am out of words for expressing the shear pleasure of playing with the best AI and tactics along with some gripping action sequences in FEAR (in the extreme difficulty mode).
The particle effect during gun shots and explosions, the induced smoke during grenade explosion, the blood shots, lightning effect, shadow details, physics every thing was class apart, making the experience as satisfying as one can be. The particle effect during a grenade explosion done with the slow mo was nothing short of spectacular.
AI If you ask me was better than Farcry. For once I couldn’t believe Soldiers actually responded to the situation differently every time the game was reloaded. Not only that the tactics the way they planned there attack...awesome.......the communication between the soldiers was worth listening, they talked, acted exactly in accordance to the situation.........."Alpha 91 proceed for extraction"......bang!!!! Alpha is dead......the other soldier "alpha is down; I need back up I need the ****ing back up"............AWSOME Man .......the fear of the situation was so skillfully incorporated in their AI, it made the entire experience so damm real. Fantastic game. I couldn’t stop myself from sharing the experience. FEAR is a dream game to be played for any FPS fan. Eagerly, Eagerly waiting for FEAR 2.

hmmmm...that was the only strange part in FEAR for me , why would telepathically linked commandos talk so loudly over the radio?

& if u have finished Extraction Point, FEAR : Perseus Mandate ( 2nd expansion) has / will be released very soon....

What! there is a secong expansion pack wow and then FEAR 2.....gee I am a happy man. BTW I dont think the commandos were talking loud (neither were they telepathically linked, they were regular radio linked), and their radio was intercepted I guess and sent to my comlink.

no....its not the radio chatter, otherwise it would have shown up on the top left of the HUD.....u know....where the 'Unknown Origin' shows up...

mmm yea top left corner used to show "Incoming" during conversation. But I can bet commandos did not sound at all like telipathically talking.........The conversation was pure radio talk. I dont know why the HUD did not show the signal, but it was their radio talk for sure which the player intercepts.

Guys this FEAR 2 would ROCK the fight experience the original FEAR gave........few initial thoughts I share.........


According to Skinner, Monolith is attempting to build "the best first-person shooter combat ever" into this sequel by taking the over-the-top, kinetic quality of the first game and ratcheting it up several notches so that "destruction [happens] an inch from your face." We saw this in the several firefights we watched, which seemed even more-spectacular than those of the original game, thanks to much more flying debris and choice language from the enemy soldiers once they sighted us. We also saw several extremely gory deaths, including clouds of arterial spray gouting up from shotgun blasts to enemies' throats, and complete dismemberment after tossing grenades at enemies stuck in tight corners.

i think u misunderstood......i said that they were telepatically connected to Fettel, The conversation IS radio talk, but would any elite commando shout out orders so loudly over the radio? ... it does alert the player to their presence.

btw, Perseus mandate is out!

mmmm. I think they shouted when they used to run down in chaos, other wise they were normally talking and we hear them over the Radio itself (which some how our team was able to intercept)...............thats what I think, coz I used to hear their conversation from quite a distance.

Yes HL 1 was very new to me as well. Still to play HL2, but I think FEAR would still hold one notch up when I will complete HL2........till now I can think only Max Payne 1 which gave me the complete game immersion experience.

yes they do talk over radio.

Yea I already watched the trailer.......pretty cool....I hope the sequel lives up to the expectations.....BTW I played the FEAR multiplayer as well, it was as smooth as the real gameplay, and was an incredible experience too....

EDIT :: I have started COD 2 and it has engaged me properly (Another awsome game), So Perseus mandate is on hold for now, but will update as and when I start playing it.

Well I keep on upgrading, My initiall config was of one year back, I guess I bought it in Oct 2006. C2D 6300, 1 GB RAM, my old CRT monitor, 160 GB SATA and XFX 7600 GT was my initiall config. With one year down the line I purchased my 19" WS LCD, upgraded storage to 1 TB (160GB, 500GB SATA and 350 GB IDE). bought 3 GB RAM and upgraded my GPU to XFX 7800 GT. My next purchase soon would be XFX 8800 GT with better PSU.

PS : I also bought a Logitech cordless keyboard/Mouse combi in the same year....

But I am curious, about your question.....

Yup .. ive played "Perseus mandate" its gud n worth downloadin .. some changes i notice in dis game... Widescreen support on starting video ..lol..
and all old engins of FEAR 1 and yeh its a sequal.. (Stand alone Expantion Pack)

i m eagerly waitin for FEAR Project Origin ... i just saw its game play on Youtube... cant wait to put my hands on it..

Raja u got to play Extraction Point if you havent, the explosions and the eerie, creepy stuff is better than the original, fight sequences are also more tough and long. The pack itself is very short, I completed in 4 hrs-6 Hrs.

I have hands on recently on "DOOM3". but I am stuck in the "Delta labs 5"
& I cann't make way of there. Two monsters come out of teleporter & I have used all the weapons on them even the rocket launcher doesn't have any effect on them. How do I over come this obstacle. Can u share?

k if i remembr its the stage where u get to see betruger last time before he teleport himself to the Hell. But before that he opens the teleporter to the hell and two HellKnight(the second largest bulky enemy, throws blue-greenish fireballs) make their entry to delta labs.

You got to kill then in conjunction with dodging their attack. Just put the leads in their head(head is the most hitting point to drop someone down). First use all ur rocket launchers (fire it above chest so that it will hit them and the splash will be inflicted on head also). Then use chain gun to unleash fury. Hope u can make it now.

I think 4 rockets ae nuff for each hellknight. And dont you have bfg ?? may be i dont remember well ...cuz i played it a lont time ago.

Oh man rahul sorry I cant remember like this, have completed so many games recently with looong looong stages. FEAR stages are still fresh in my mind coz thats what I completed recently. Sorry man, but try T159, I think he has the DOOM stages still fresh, or open up a new thread somebody should respond more accurately.

Yes you guessed it right. It is the same stage u described. These monsters r so fast & strong that I keep running away from them I have all the weapons & loaded ammo but these creature can take anything. Ok I will try what U suggested. Hope it works. I have played F.E.A.R. recently & I completed that w/o any hassel.
