Performance analysis
Since this was a hit on the xbox i am going to buy this game.
I expect it to run fine on systems having single 8600GT with some settings on med.I haven't yet read the analysis but lets move on.

Ok here's what i read.No AA for DX9 and DX10 cause performance drop.But the game was more than playable at 1600*1200 with some tuning.

Only 4xAA in DirectX10.
AF can be forced but AA cannot be forced now.

I think this game will be playable on an 8600GT in DX9 mode(obviously no AA)at 1024*768 with medium/high(not sure) texture settings with everything else set to high.

When will it be released??? Anyway on my 8600GT i wont turn on AA for such games since it just cant take the load. I dont use AA even in Crysis...

Everything set to high in XP constant 62 FPS at 1280*800.
Somehow i could not manage to enable SLI in Vista even though i have installed the SLI vista update.

Thats probably coz Gears of War is capped at 62 FPS, just like UT3....

Yes i can set everything at max even on vista and even turn AA on from in game.I got 30FPS AVG in vista at 1024*768 with both SLI disable and enabled with DirectX 10 AA on and everything set to high.I don't know why i am having problems turning SLI on in vista.It works for some games and does not for others.
No there are no GFX differences in vista and XP.DirectX 10 is only for AA.

Guys if you wanna get a good game get this as it performs better(can't say about the hiccups though).I played this game with my brother on LAN in co-op mode and really enjoyed the experience.

Many have been suffering from stuttering in this game, this may help.

In the file WarEngineUserSettings.ini (in C:\Users\*Username*\Documents\My Games\Gears of War for Windows\WarGame\Config),
I found that changing;
OnlyStreamInTextures=FALSE
to TRUE (eg: OnlyStreamInTextures=TRUE) removes the stuttering, but probably will use more RAM since everything else (but textures) will be pre-loaded it seems.

Woah! Looks like majority have latched onto the 8600GT card.Anyways just got the game today.Can't wait to get my grubby hands on it.Been waiting for this game to release far more than I waited for Crysis.Got Crysis too but don't feel like playing it right now as would complete COD 4 first then would jump to Gears in an all out gaming session.

The game is a bit different than other fps .. i mean i saw a enemy and game asks me to take cover .. hide .. u r not a rambo anymore. You take cover .. shoot few bullets .. get to next cover. It's interesting though.

someone on the forum said my comp is not powerfull enough to run GOW.
it is running at 1280*1024 with all settings higheston xp 32 bit.
on vista 64 bit it will run better

Well posting some screenshots But itz low settings @800x600 played on my intel onboard X3000 it wont look pety,I got around 13 FPS

I guess Digit users will accept this
