like bharathbala2003 said XP is more suitable, some new games might not work on 98.

Well... Not Zeus and Armed and Dangerous

Zeus can't be run on XP even in emulation mode and A&D is dead slow...

Newer games might be better off with XP, as they may be optimised for XP.

For any older game, 98 is better as it occupies lesser RAM. Pre 2000 games are almost sure to run better on 98 than NT based operating systems.

Depends on many things. But I play games in Win98, since it hogs less memory as compared to WinXP. And use WinXP for my work purpose, since it allows my Intel Pentium 4 HT processor to work in Hyper Threading mode. Good for Photoshop like applications. Though games too might benefit from it. But still I use Win98 for playing games.

WEll...no one has mentioned abt device drivers.. The latest device drivers for Graphics cards r designed for the RAW perfromance & they won't work properly with win98.

well, some games require double the rAM on XP than in 98,
but then XP is the clearer choice for the future games...

But if u have a mid-low PC u can go for 98 for better gameplay...

WinXP SP2 4 me... the best 4 games.. seems that the nvidia drivers for XP are better.. in Q3A. XP SP2 gives about 30 fps more than in Win 2000 Pro +SP4.

Some new games do not run on 98. Plus all games are now optimised to run on xp. Thus WINDOWS XP is way better than 98.
