Directx 9b to 9c upgrade problem help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hie,
Well im having this serious problem with my comp. I tried to play republic commando but it required dx 9c (actually thats when i reealised that i was still stuck with 9b) anyways
So i used the installtation of the dx 9c redistributable version given in the dvd this month.
Well when it came installing files i got the following error "DX DID NOT COPY A REQUIRED FILE" and the installation stopped
Somebody plzz help i tried microsft site and theres a solution for this error but it seems only for ppl who want to swtich from dx 8.1to dx9 but still i tried it and it didnt work heres the link to know what im talking about: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=891890
Any idea how to solve this problem????????????????

hmmm how about uninstalling directX completely and then installin dx 9c

dude when i uninstall dx9 windws will load the default dx 8 right what if i get teh same error while upgrading it back to dx9.c ill be stuck with dx 8 then and my only option then would be formatiing so dont wana risk it
yeah i tried the solution and didnt work the directory that they want us to open dosent exist in 9.b
