Sony PS3 80GB on sale online

Its August now and yeah its time for the Sony PS3 80GB to be out. Sony didn’t previously give us a date or anything, but it looks like GameStop / EB Games is stocking the $599 80GB console (bundled with MotorStorm), and claims shipment in 24 hours.

Twenty four thousand for a gaming console! That is a total rip-off.

And you are just doing a direct conversion. The actual price is going to be a lot higher.

Since when mac users got worried about rip off ?
Answer is simple, if you think your MBP is totally worth , then according to ps3 owners (current as well as potential) it should be totally worth for them too as they know what they are buying. I would prefer a 360 in consoles available currently (because its a wise choice), but for who wants a PS3 this price is pretty good, this console was selling for 45K some months ago.

PS3 is definitely worth it...because if you want to play FF-13, Tekken 6, Metal Gear Solid (the new one) and Soul Calibur IV (announced for PS3) you just have to get this console. No two ways about it.

^PC wont be having GTA4 for a very long time after release. Every segment has its own games.

What's the big deal? It is sold at that price around the world!! $599. It's just that in India since sony doesnt have it's direct distribution of PS3, that's why it's more costlier. And don't forget the import tax and all that kinda s**t.

If you have a relative in the US, ask them to ship one to you and make sure you ask them to rip of the label and not declare the value(If possible, put it in another packing. When you get it in India, just tell that it was a video game console sent for repairs and it's worth 10K. You can walk away without import duty!!

And if someone is coming, they can bring it along. No tension. I just bought a digital camera from the US this way.

I agree.
And Mac users do worry about getting ripped off, which is why we don't buy our accessories from Apple. It is, however, impossible to go back to using some other operating system now.

Sure they do but the PC is now becoming a major platform for games to be ported across to.Take for example some Xbox 360 majors like Lost Planet & Gears Of War which were touted initially as "exclusives" and then slipped over to the PC.Many of the developers are now crossing platform realising that there is no point remaining exclusive to just one platform.Afterall it's plain money making business.

BTW the advent of 80GB PS3 should now "hopefully" reduce it's 60GB sibblings price in India.Still it is pretty much unafforable to mass audiences.Games are still pretty scanty.Though E3 previews have shed some amount of light on it.Hopefully by end of this year it should have couple of titles worth playing.Considering it has only handful of exclusives it would be a tough time catching up with Xbox 360.
