a good war based strategy game!!

i don't want 1st person shooters like call of duty.strictly a strategy game based,preferably on WW-2
the game shud have nice gfx but not overload my PC a lot

Rise of Nations is a good bet.It covers ancient to modern era.
Get RoN and Warcraft3.Warcraft is the best RTS I have played.

There is a new kick-ass game "company of heroes" based on WW2 out there.But it wont run on onboard gfx.

dude company of heroes is sweeeet so just get a cheap gcard ( even a geforce 4 or 3 will do) and u can play

Well if you have graphics card you can play

1. Act of war : Direct Action and high treason.
2. Warcraft 3 and the frozen throne.
3. Company of heroes.
4. Supreme Commander.

there is no need for GFX card to play yester year games. i played warcraft on intel 810 with 128 mb ram and PIII 500.
anyways, RTS like
warcraft, Age of empires, age of mythology, empire Earth I, rise of nations are excellent games.

then comes turn based strategy, which is lead by games like Civilization series.

commandoes is a different breed of game. it's a 3rd person action game

Nope commandos is strategy too.But it does not include base building and other deep strategical elements.

no, there is difference bwt tactics and stratgy.

well, to me its always a tactical based shooter than a stratgy one, but it doesn't matter.
commandoes is a excellent game series( barring the lastest) and should be played by all who like excercise of grey shells

yup. preety good game.only if played online though.AI is too tough..

personally, i like AOE II. it's the fav stratgy game for lan parties.
not to mention it's the best RTS.

for me warcraft is much better than aoe series.If you have enough micro management skills,fighting ai could be hell of a fun.

yea i know that.when i first played it, the individual unit abilities was something totally new for me.i was used to AOE II back then. however, when i was trying to learn about it, that super hard AI simply frustrated me to hell.after loosing uncountable games with AI, i simply moved back to AOE.

it was only when i was browsing some forums that i learnt that warcraft III AI is incredibly tough.so i tried it again on net and i liked it a lot.but i had dial up that time, so no use.

fortunately, with broadband's arrival, i might start playing it again this summer. soo many people still have 845 chipsets powering their systems.
