help me pls ps2 not working

hi ppl i bought ps2 2day from alfa but when i turn it on my tv shows flickering screen even gow2 is showing 3 pics at a time i bought 7 cd but except gow2 all show no data in disc even some of my mp3 cd show same message pls help me it was working properly at alfa is there problem with tv as it is 15yr old.

pls reply soon . i feel screwed up.

In case of flickering the best thing you can do is to check it out at your friend's place probably to get a clear insight if your TV is indeed the culprit or not.By default PS2 does not read MP3 CD's/DVD's as they only have Audio CD compatibility(even if you have a modded one).For the rest of the DVD's I suggest you try warming up the lens for a while as it had been in the box for a pretty long time.I have noticed this kind of problem with all the newly bought PS2's & also those who have been inactive for months.

Try & keep inserting random DVD's & keep the PS2 switched on for sometime until it's lens gets used to reading data.If one DVD starts working then believe rest will follow suit.But no guarantee that one of these DVD's may not be faulty.Do check for the same as well.

acd work fine can you tell me another place than alfa to get ps2 foolproof cds?

It must be the fault of the AV cable. I too experience it sometimes. Adjust the plug near the console. That usually helps it. MP3 and VCD don't play on PS2. Only Audio CD and DVD Video discs apart from game discs. To insert the disc properly, place the disc in the centre and press down till all the notches on the central circular thing click into place. If even one notch does not click, the disc won't play and may get damaged. Alfa usually has good games and very cheap too.

Removing the DVD from PS2 is not a big issue but inserting the DVD is a major drawback as the Lens is directly exposed dangeoursly close to inserting the disc.Which is why I preferred the old bulky model which had the tray coming to pop the disc in.

Anyways make sure you just balance the DVD towards the centre first & then apply pressure towards the centre to just make sure it fits on all ends.Never push it towards on the edges,else you might end up damaging the lens.My friend had got Def Jam Fight for NY long back from Alfa.They usually run out of stock for titles which are limited in demand.They keep just one batch of them then don't re-order it.For popular titles like the WWE series,GOW,Burnout they ideally keep heaps of them as they are quite huge in demand.Selected titles like you mentioned are quite tough to find.Also some older titles like POP:Sands of time which I desparately needed but was not there.Bleh!

The AV cable plug.Thos red,white & Yellow cable which you connect at the back of the console.Just remove them once & attach them perfectly.Also the sound you mentioned is always present as it clashes with the DVD holder in the centre,nothing much to worry about unless you rip off the DVD.

Yeah i was talking about the AV cable but not the end near the tv as allwyndlima explained but the end near the PS2 with the rectangular proprietary connector. Usually it gets loose and picture is not displayed properly (however sound is). Mine is especially bad. And yeah removing a disc makes a loud clicking sound. Perfectly normal. And alfa does have the games you mentioned, pirated of course (do they even keep originals??). You just went when they're out of stock. I got my copy of Carbon now after many months of release because whenever i went it was out of stock. But luckily i got Dominator in the first week of release.
