How to update via Steam?

Hi Guys.
I'm currently playing SiN Episodes: Emergence.
But the problem is, the game hangs at a certain level while loading.
So I was thinking of updating the game to see whether it fixes the problem or not.
The official site says I'll need Steam in order to update the game.
So, I installed Steam.
But now I don't know how to update the game via Steam cos there is no option.
Can anyone tell me how can I update the game via Steam?
Or is there any other way?

Steam can only used if you have original game and have a steam account.

U have to create a steam account using ur original SIN CD Key & only then can the game be updated...Otherwise if u have pirated game then u can say bybye to updating..lolz
