Default Direct x issues

i have direct x 9 on my pc .... in call of duty 2 u have an option that allows u to select the rendering u want either dx 9 or dx 7 .... i have it on dx 7 and the game works smooth .... but when i select dx 9 the graphics become sexy but slow considerably one of the most noticable changes is that it snows in the winter if dx 9 is selected but does not if dx 7 is an option is there a way by which i can have snow but keep the rendering as dx 7 coz the performance is better

COD 2 in DX7 play smooth but you see crappy graphics but in DX9 you see fps low and graphics becomes aweome.

1)Use the following settings with Dx9:
10X7 or lower
Max settings in game or lower
No AA/AF
Test diff settings unless you arrive at the right settings.

2)Do a clean format and install 3rd party drivers.

3)What is your CPU and RAM. Try to overclock CPU, RAM and GPU.
