Desperados Error issues

I have been playing Desperados:Wanted Dead or Alive and have been experiencing problems.During the game it hangs just after 5 minutes of gameplay producing some noise in sound,and i end the game using TaskManager and again start playing for the next 5 minutes.I asked my friend who also owns the game and he too said he is also experiencing the same problem.Please kindly help.System

Specs:Windows XP Professional,Pentium 4 processor HT,256 MB Ram,80 GB Harddisk,Geforce MX 4000 WITH NVIDIA 81.98 DRIVERS,Direct X 9c.
