Mafia woes

Mafia is indeed a great game(only flaw being too much driving instead of action), but it has two technical problems, with my pc:

1. In tutorial, when you are to open the lock of the car provided & step in, no notification comes after that, even if i drive the car around or bang a few people hehehe
You guys must have played, have u experienced this?

2. Whenever i quit the game, it displays: "pleasewait" and then screen goes blank for about 15s & then error occurs:
Game.exe has performed an illegal error & has been shut down,etc....
What is this for?

** I have downloaded BMW car & other skin addons for mafia, which are in the FILE format. How do i install them?

Do you have the original copy of the game ? If yes, then try to install the latest patch. I think ONLY pirated ones have that problems.
