cost of graphic card?

my pc is p4,2.8ghz,80 gb hdd,256 ram,845 onboard graphic card. can i
add a new graphic card on my pc.actually my budget is 3,500 and is it
possible to buy 256 mb graphic card from that budget . which card is better
geforce or ATI?for 3500 which card should i buy.which is the best geforce or
ati card is should buy for 3500.it should have pixel shader and it should able to run the latest games.

first of all ensure that there is AGP slot in ur motherboard cause some intel 845 chipset based mobo dont have agp slot

and if there is AGP slot , i think it would be an AGP 4X slot and i am not sure whether u will get 256 mb card or not with 3500 bucks

and if there is no AGP slot then forget about AGP graphic card , the only option remaining is PCI slot graphic card which r rarely available these days and also dont support latest pixel and vertex shader capabilities.

Go for a GeForce 5700, somewhere around Rs. 3500. It is really good.

i agree with deathvirus_me , why not a 6200 for 3800 , buying a 5700 will be a mistake and that too for 3500 .
