When i shifted from intel pentium to an amd athlon 2600+ xp with 512 mb ddr 400mhz and AMD Via 400 mobo, i had real problems...the computer heats up to around 50 degrees C and switches off even with good AC and the cabinet side plate off. I cant waste my money on overheating processors without even overclocking. Everytime, i'm about to finish a stage, the system just switches off(doesn't shut down). It'll run only after cooling down for another half hour. I swear i hated AMD so much after this horrifying experience. Has anyone else faced this problem??

Yes, i heard there are heating issues with the HT pentiums.

Guys, since i've already burnt my fingers with AMD,i'm a bit scared even though the regional AMD distributor is a personal friend.

Ok, if i'm deciding to build an AMD rig, what is the best processor+mobo combo.???? My budget for the both is around 12k.

What is the best chipset for an AMD64FX???

PS: IT SHOULD NOT OVERHEAT!! If it overheats, then i'll just hang myself ....i'm so desperate and frustrated.

PLS HELPP!!!!

if u r not gonna put a grapix card rite now then get the combo vijay suggested.if u r goin for a external gpu then go for ASUS A8NE mobo with AMD64 3000+ (939),even this combo will come around 12k and this is a better option if u r going to get a external gpu as this mobo dont hav any onboard grapix.

If i can stretch my budget to 15 or 16, what is the best processor + mobo combo with SLI support and doesn't overheat.....after spending such cash, i dont want my PC to switch off just when i'm about to win a tough race in NFS:MW. This is the main reason i'm investing so much.

I got the Momo logitech Steering wheel with paddle shifters and sequential shift and force feedback too. Paid 5.5k, quite a good deal, isnt it??

Pls advice dear friends, thx in advance.

PS: do u think the nforce4 SLI is the best chipset for athlon 939??

Thx,ashnik.

Now, i'm having a dilemma on what chipset to decide for the mobo.

I have two options since i'm gonna use 939 socket(heard of any problems with this socket?).

Option A: Nforce4 ultra(Asus A8NE)

Option B: Ati radeon xpress200 (MSI rs480m2-il)

The processor is costing me 7500(Athlon Athlon 3000 (64 bits) (939 pins))

IS this processor called venice??

The Asus A8NE is costing 6900 bucks..

Do u think its kinda cool deal???

Pls suggest better VFM mobos chipset for the above processor.

Thx in advance,my friends

No, absolutely not, your dealer is ripping you off. A8N-E costs around 5.5-5.6k here in Kolkata and 3000+ Venice is around 6.1k. Your dealer is qouting the old price which was three months ago.

em building a gaming system with 7800gt....

the SMPS is a big problem, for a good gfx performance get an smps which give output of atleast 20A on the 12V rail.

for this the only option is to go for antec or coolermaster which cost a lot

go for antec 450W SMPS for your configuration

Yeah, i'm planning to get a 450 smps from antec.
My friend is the regional ditributor , but still its many times expensive compared to the regular ones available in the market.

I've decided to get the 256 MB leadtek 6600GT with TV out and SLI support . Costs me over 10k.
