QUAKE***urgent***

guys

i used to play quake 3 arena without any glitch a year back . but now i start the game the white screen apears and nothing happens when i close it my windows xp becomes light greenish something happens to the resolution .
here is my machine configuration :

pentium 4 1.5 ghz
256 ddr ram
nvidia riva tnt2 32 mb graphic card
windows xp professional
intel 845 pesv motherboard

someone please help me

My Quake 3 was opening fine at first when when i loaded a map it jst hung.So i closeed it by ctrl+alt+del and my screen resolution was changed and the colour also .So what i do is restart the game and in options click QUit and again everything was back to normal.

Then i updated my display driver and the game was running. No problem after that. Hope this helps u.

no i din load anything extra . i just ectracted the files and run them but i am getting a error after which windows xp turn greenish and the resolution goes low . this is the error i am getting :
