Which game are you talking about ? 256 MB or RAM is not going to be enough for games my friend. Atleast 512 MB is needed. Your getting virtual memory errors because of the fact that that you dont have enough RAM. 256 is not enough for gaming. I would also suggest you check the min req for the game as well.

HALF LIFE 2 SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
minimum System Configuration

1.2 GHz Processor
256MB RAM
DirectX 7 capable graphics card
Windows 2000/XP/ME/98
Mouse
Keyboard
Internet Connection

Well looks like this is the min config. U will have to tone down ur system settings further, and also killl all the process from task manager in winodws before you start to play. Anyways I have played this and I tell u need 512 megs RAM atleast.
