I looked around and seem to have stumbled upon a few DivX movis of Lost Coast which Valve presented before the game was officially available.

You can find the source here. Just scroll down to the bottom of the page.

Here are the links:

Commentary
Walking around

I haven't tested the vids yet. Will do so soon and post back if it's worth the download. All are 8Mb or less.

If anyone else comes across a vid that has the whole gameplay, it will be great. Atleast we mere souls who dont have these high-end cards will get to see something so spectacular.

Lost Coast is actually not an expansion to HL2. As of now, it is just supposed to be a tech demo made to show off the Source engines HDR capabilities. It's a level designed to show how much eye candy the devlopers can pack in if they were fred from the hardware constraints.

Although one could easily dismiss the demo for not adding anything to the story line, Gabe Newell in a presentation made much before the demo was out, had said that the cathedral one sees at the end of the demo is very important to the plot. We will get to realise it's importance later on in the series, possibly Aftermath or HL3.

So while the Lost Coast is a tech-demo, it still adds more question to the HL2 plot. The only expansion that is in the works for HL2 and has been confirmend is Aftermath. It's scheduled to be released in November 2005. The dates are tentative.

Swweeeet pics.

I ran it @10x7,2x/16x on a 3200+ w/ a 6600 and 512megs. 15-20 fps. My older comp's trained me for these framerates so I'm perfectly comfortable in this zone. Some screens (also posted @SKOAR):

Startup, OUCH!, Valve's Comparo, Water, Mr.Fisherman, Mr. Fisherman Again, Panorgasmic, Bloomin' in the courtyard, Clipping Bug, Refraction thru glass fragments, Tiny shiny surfaces, "Bcuz u've never used them..", A little easier on the eye this time, Three's Company, Bloom Bloom, Chopper shootout

In case ur interested, here's the full pack of 111 pics (18.67MB, Megaupload).
