How do you get 1024*819 or 1024*768 for games? Is that as same as that for monitor or is it due to the GFX card thing? I posted in that thread, but I deleted that post and started this thread, so that others might also get oppurtunity to post and that thread will also be clean. This is what ctrl_alt_del replied there: @grudge: I am not sure if I got your qn correct, but if you want to know where do I source those screenshots from, I take them off Gamespot mostly. Sometimes I put on screenies from other sites as well. If you mean how to get those resolutions for games to play on, you will need to have a moniter that supports those reolutions and a gfx card that can make playing games at those reolutions feasible.

^^ reply to ctrl_alt_del :
No, I dint want to know the source as to where you got the screenies. Yeah, I wanted how we get some much resolutions. My PC runs in 800*600 only. My PC is old and I dont have GFX card, but in case we got any GFX card will those run in such resolution irrespective of our monitor or we need a suitable monitor for them? Also we case we got the Hardware required, will all the games play at those resolution or does it depends on the game also? I remember Nemesis saying that quake (not sure abt the game) wont play more than 800*600.

1) The resolution depends on your monitor also. Your monitor has to be capable of displaying high resloutions or else you will just get a blank screen if you try.
2) Regarding your second question, the game you play also matters. With your current hardware you might be able to play some games quite smoothly at high resolutions but others will perform pretty badly. Also the game should support the resolution at which you want to play. The resolution at which screenshots are captured depends on which setting you are playing the game.
